Newly-elected president, Victoria "Evic" Manasan-Milan, states: "Many many thanks to our Outgoing President, Jesse JT Tiamson Sr., Class of 1968. With your leadership and guidance, CAHSAFI was founded, achieved its mission and vision and contributed a lot to our school and its students. We are honored to have served with you during your term. JT: "Please join me in welcoming CAHSAFI’s new President, Victoria Milan. She is a well-decorated gymnast from Class of 1970. She was Vice President of CAHSAFI for 2 terms. She graduated from the University of the Philippines and was Vice President of PNC Bank, Washington DC for 32 years.
 
"We are privileged to have such a committed and talented President as we continue our commitment to support our Alma Mater. With Victoria Milan at the helm, we are assured that the welfare of Arellano High School and its student body will continue to be well taken cared of. Welcome Madam President.
 
"It is with pride and pleasure that I welcome Mel Fleming as the new Vice President of CAHSAFI.
 
"Mel, a dedicated Rondalla member, graduated with the class of 1970, attaining the Salutatorian Honors from Arellano’s Vocational Department. She went on to graduate from the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Manila, thereafter. For 30 years she worked as Legal Administrator of a litigation firm in Los Angeles, California.

"Mel has been with CAHSAFI since the beginning and has worked hard to champion the organization’s vision and mission. She is an integral part of our winning team!

Erlinda Lim-Ang
She is better known as Linda, of Class of 1973. She obtained her Accounting degree from PCC – BSC, 1978.
 
Linda has held various supervisory and managerial positions in her professional life. She is currently a constant and determined member of the Journalism and Music Committees

Elizabeth Halili Beano
Graduated from Arellano in 1968 and obtained her BS in Secondary Education from Adamson University in 1973.
 
Beth has devoted her life in Education. Her illustrious career of forty years was spent tirelessly in educating our youth at Adamson University, San Beda and La Salle – Greenhills.

Roland Isidro
Roland is from Batch 1971. After Arellano, he went on to De La Salle Araneta University to pursue BS in Agriculture with major in Agronomy. Today he is a very successful owner of Rainbow Lawn Sprinkler Systems in Canada.
Roland is a passionate advocate and chairman of CAHSAFI's Journalism Committee

Jocelyn L. Sosa
We call her Joyce; she is my batch mate in Class of 1970.
She graduated from the Philippine College of Commerce with an Accounting degree. She has worked at Allen Arthur (Manila) Incorporated as an Auditor. Joyce is our very reliable and enthusiastic member of the Journalism and Music Committees

Virginia Sta Ana
Gie, as she is known by many friends and colleagues is from the Class of 1971. Graduated from the Colegio de San Juan de Letran with a degree in Accounting.
She is currently employed as a consultant at SMITS Inc., the IT Company of San Miguel Corp. Gie is a dedicated member of our Finance Committee.

Percival Cruz
Percy was the Juan dela Cruz awardee when he graduated in 1964. He went on to the University of the Philippines where he obtained his undergraduate and graduate degrees including a Master of Business Administration.
 
After working for Delta Motor Corp (Toyota Philippines) as a vice president, he migrated to California where he became a real estate broker. He is currently a short story writer and book publisher.
 
Percy is a founding member of CAHSAFI.

Celia Ocampo Factor
Celia is one of the most popular members of the Class of 1973. After high school she went to the Philippine Women’s University to pursue a BS in Business Administration.
 
After migrating to the US she attended the Fairleigh Dickinson School of Nursing. She was a Charge Nurse at one of the NJ hospitals when she retired.
Celia has been an effective and enthusiastic proponent and campaign booster of CAHSAFI.

Roland Lacanilao
Roland comes from the Class of 1971. He went on to obtain his undergraduate degree from the Far Eastern University. In California after obtaining a diploma from American Real Estate School, he became a Real Estate and Finance Specialist and the owner of an elderly care facilities.
 
Roland is the director of our Membership Committee, he has been active in many alumni association activities

Evelyn Tabora Tiamson
Evelyn is one of the founding members of the CAHSAFI. Since the beginning she has been a strong believer in our mission. She has continuously and actively supported the organization’s programs and activities.
 
Evelyn graduated from the University of the Philippines with a degree in Business. She is a retired CPA.

Maria Teresa “Teza Yatco” Meneses
This year Teza was honored as Outstanding Alumnus of Class of 1979. From the Polytechnic University with a degree in Business Management she went on to the Regis University in Colorado and to University of Phoenix in 2009 where she obtained a Master of Business Administration.
She is currently working for the US Air Force Services Activity as chief of the Accounting Branch, in San Antonio, TX
Teza is one of our newly-installed directors we are pleased and confident that she will be a terrific member of our team.

Ricardo Banta
Rick is always smiling; this friendly Director comes from the Class of 1980. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of the East. He has been a Project Manager at the Commtech Asia Philippines and soon he will be QA/OC Manager with Filinvest, Alabang Inc.
As busy as he is at work, he never fails to commit and devote part of his time to his committee work. He has been a steadfast supporter of our organization’s mission.

Dinah Paner
Dinah was there when CAHSAFI was founded in 2012. She has since focused her efforts in establishing and supporting our Scholarship Committee.
After graduating with the Class of 1964 she went on to the Polytechnic University of the Philippines, where she obtained her BSC – Accounting degree.
She became a CPA and was retired from Wells Fargo Bank as a bank auditor.

German R. Gapac
 
German is one of the most dedicated and accomplished directors of CAHSAFI. Our Manila Treasurer hails from the Class of 1973. After securing his bachelor’s degree from the University of the East, he went on to obtain his Master of Business Administration from De La Salle University. German retired as Vice President for HRD and Administration.

Anita Schon
 
Anita was also there when CAHSAFI was first organized. From the Class of 1955, she went to obtain her BSBA with Accounting as her major from Far Eastern University. She retired as Account Specialist from the Cascade Natural Gas.
 
At 81, Anita is pursuing a degree in Arts and Sciences from Olympic College in Bremerton, WA

CAHSAFI will endeavor to provide assistance to financially-challenged students and organizations, reward academic excellence and encourage students to participate in educational, scientific, literary, artistic, athletic, and other charitable pursuits. To achieve our objectives, we will raise funds through contributions and financial support from all legitimate sources and provide financial assistance or scholarship assistance through grants and awards to deserving students.

Jesse "JT" Tiamson, '68, WA -- President and Chair of the Board
An Electrical Engineering graduate of Mapua Institute of Technology in 1974, Jesse is a graduate of AHS class ’68.  He moved to the U.S. in 1979 to join his wife, Evelyn.  After 30 years as a Technicl Field Engineer with UNISYS (formerly known as Burroughs Corp.) in the Philippines and Chicago, IL, he switched to nursing when he moved to their current residence in Puyallup, WA, and currently works as a Psych Nurse with the State of Washington. An avid Beatles collector, he enjoys singing, dancing, and writing English and Tagalog poetry.  His hobby with photography started when Miss Magdalena Tapang made him the photographer for the school organs, Chronicler and Tambuli, where he was the Patnugot sa Palakasan in his senior year. A cancer survivor, Jesse is an avid health food advocate and shares his recipes with others. He is a lifetime member of the Phil Scouts Heritage Society where he is a re-enactor as a Katipunero  and a Philippine Scout.  He is active in his church as a lector, a eucharistic minister, and a Knight of Columbus.  He has been married for 37 years to his wife, the former Evelyn Africa Tabora and they have two children, Catalina and Jesse, Jr.  They enjoy traveling and playing golf.

Victoria "Evic" Manasan-Milan, '70, VA -- Vice President
She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Clothing Technology and Merchandising from the University of the Philippines, Diliman. But she never worked in the industry. She went instead into banking where she started her career as a teller when she was newly-arrived in Washington DC. Working at a bank was the only job that allowed her to be home when her, then, nine year old son came home from school every afternoon. She was a vice president with over 30 years of senior professional management experience when she retired from PNC.
She had been a frequent speaker and guest panelist at Asian American conferences including the Library of Congress lecture series on Emerging Opportunities for Asian Women.  She also participated in the annual conferences of Asian Americans in Business. Volunteered for PNC Grow Up Great, the bank’s project for very young children in the community; various schools’ business programs and the Junior Achievement of Greater Washington Area. Was a member of various local Chambers of Commerce. She is the youngest of seven children, six of whom graduated from Arellano High School. All seven children started at the Francisco Balagtas Elementary School, then Arellano High and finished college from the University of the Philippines. Now she busies herself with recipe testing, cooking and writing stories at home in Virginia, USA
.

Evelyn Tiamson, WA -- Treasurer
She graduated from the University of the Philippines with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree.  She is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in the States of Washington and Illinois. She was a member of the Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants and was the President of the Filipino American Association of Certified Public Accountants in Seattle which offers scholarships to deserving students of accounting and provides continuing professional education seminars for its members and the public. She was the Treasurer of the FAACPA Educational Fund from 2005 to 2011. Between her busy schedules, she volunteers as an IRS VITA tax preparer for United Way. She is a Eucharistic Minister at All Saints Catholic Church.  Her hobbies include gardening and golf andshe loves to travel. Evelyn currently serves as the Treasurer of CAHSAFI  and was instrumental in its incorporation with the State of Washington last July 2, 2012
.

Imelda "Mel" Lapitan-Fleming, '70, Los Angeles , CA --
Imelda Lapitan-Fleming is a long time resident of Los Angeles , California .  She is a legal administrator for a litigation firm.  She is the salutatorian of Class of 1970.  Being a rondalla member during her high school years, she continues to support the school’s rondalla.  Together with a group of Arellanites, they call the LA Gang; she has successfully coordinated three AHS reunions in the United States that drew attendance from all over the world: Arellanites from the US west coast to the east coast, from Manila , Sweden , Australia , Japan and Canada came and went home with a question, “When is the next reunion?”  The first one was in Los Angeles , California in 2005, where she and her group presented a dance number wearing the venerated school uniform that drew the crowd’s teary oohs and aahhs. The second reunion was in 2010 in San Francisco , California and the third in 2011 in Las Vegas Nevada .

Sesinando "Nanding" Cantor, WA --
Born in Burgos, Pangasinan, married to Lourdes Ontiveros and have four (4) children, and nine (9) grandchildren, he and Lourdes reside in  Renton, Washington. Graduated from Far Eastern University  (1959) with an accounting degree and Manuel L. Quezon University (1964), with a Law degree .  Licensed as  CPA in 1960 and admitted to the Philippine Bar in 1965. He was  a CPA  and practiced law as an Attorney in the Philippines. He also worked as  a bank manager at RCBC, prior to migrating to the U.S. with family  in 1974. In the U.S.,  he studied at the University of Puget Sound (Tacoma, WA)  and graduated with an M.B.A. degree (1978).  He passed the CPA board examinations in Washington State in 1982  and became a licensed C.P.A.   and  a  sole practitioner since 1984. He has extensive service as  volunteer board director and financial officer for non-profit entities in the Seattle area.  He has provided  assistance in the  formation, operations and governance of  non-profit organizations and federal  tax-exempt  entities.

Anita "Nitz" Sese-Schon, '55, WA --
Chairperson of Overseas Filipino Council International. Lives in Bremerton, Washington State, USA. Anita loves to cook and learned cooking very early in life studying culinary arts  at Arellano High School while growing up in Manila. She soon realized that while Filipinos would kill each other arguing about politics, there is never an issue when eating is concerned. Filipinos love their food and Anita has embarked on her mission to unite the Filipinos worldwide through ANITA’S KITCHEN. She goes to nooks and corners of the Philippines to conduct cook-ins. She demonstrates healthy dishes using native ingredients. The one unifying force that she thinks, without doubt, will lead to the unity of all Filipinos is by appealing to their nostrils and taste buds.

Sylvia "Sie" Esteves-Hemmerich, ’71, San Ramon, CA --
Sylvia is a Tondo girl. She immigrated to California in 1981 after a successful career as a Financial Control Assistant at the Mint and Gold Refinery Department of Central
Bank.  She has over 35 years of experience in Accounting, Finance, and Project Management in the private and public sectors combined. She is currently employed as a Senior Financial Analyst at the San Francisco Bay Area Rapid District (BART) in Oakland, CA where she was recently recognized for 20 years of Outstanding Service. With her husband’s support, Sylvia found time serving as the Vice President of AFSCME Local 3993 Executive Board (12 years), Executive Board Member of AFSCME District Council 57 (5 years), as well as, volunteering for school, church and community causes. She joined AAUW (American Association of University Women) in 2010, Upwardly Global in 2011, and, last but not least, CAHSAFI in 2012. Volunteering to improve the life of young women (AAUW), mentoring immigrants (Upwardly Global), and giving back to our Alma Mater (thru CASHSAFI) are causes she wants to continue to be involved in.  She is married to her husband of 31 years, John Baker Hemmerich. They have four children, between the ages of 23 and 29. All have successfully completed their undergraduate studies and are gainfully employed; with the oldest one tying the knot last September.

Percival "Percy" Campoamor Cruz, '64, Burbank, CA -- 
Juan dela Cruz awardee in 1964 and the PMT's Corps Commander. Short story writer based in Los Angeles, California. He grew up in Tondo and Sta. Cruz, Manila. Was an activist in the University of the Philippines where he graduated with a MBA degree. Had a business travel column in Manila Bulletin. As TV producer, he produced 200 telenovelas broadcast on various Philippine TV stations, 1981-1989. Dinah-Fe "Dinah" Aquino-Paner, '64, CA --
Graduated from Polytechnic University of the Philippines (formerly Philippine College of Commerce) in 1969 with BSC major in Accounting. She is a CPA. Married to Raymundo Paner, a Mechanical Engineering graduate of UP 1970/ MBA1978.  She worked with the Development Bank of the Philippines as Financial Analyst until 1979 when she came in Los Angeles, Ca. She worked with several banks (Bank of America, Imperial Bank, HSBC and Wells Fargo)  in California as Field Auditor, examining clients which have asset-based loans. 

They have been involved with their parish, Blessed Teresa of Calcutta, in French Valley in Riverside County, CA. They are the coordinators of the Filipino Ministry in the parish. They are involved in prayer group, Bible study facilitating and representing the Filipino Ministry of the Diocese of San Bernardino in dialogue concerning social issues of the poor, marginalized or undocumented.

She
joined the medical mission of the Filipino Ministry Diocese of San Bernardino in 2012 to help poor and marginalized kababayans in Lumad, Agusan del Sur, Bohol and Payatas, QC.  The medical mission was in collaboration with the La Sallete and Divine Word Missionaries. They were assisted by doctors, nurses and dentists from some NGOs in the Philippines. It was a very satisfying experience as we brought the medical people and medicines to the people who have very limited access to both.  She has 3 grown-up sons, all married, 3 grandchildren (ages 3, 2 and 3 months). One lives in Seattle, another in Las Vegas and the other lives 3 blocks away from her home.

Antonio "Tony" Lacanilao, '68, CA --
Graduated from Mapua Institute of Technology in 1973 (BSEE). His first passion was to be a Commercial Pilot for PAL. He enrolled at PATTS College of Aeronautics and took up flying lessons to be a private pilot. He later joined his uncle who was, at that time, the Chief Engineer at BPW, Harbor Division in 1976, as an Assistant Staff Engineer. He went to Saudi Arabia to work for a construction and engineering firm and later joined his family in California in the early 80’s. He loves fast cars and likes rebuilding them from scratch, from overhauling engines and painting them. Throughout his career in Electrical Engineering, he was given a chance to be an Architect-in-training in one of the Architectural & Engineering firms in Los Angeles. Since then he has held a position as Director of Electrical and also founded his own Construction and Engineering firm, Salton & Sons, named after his wife of 39 years, Sally, who was also his classmate in high school, Tony and their three sons. Tony is a licensed and general contractor in the State of California. In 2006, he was given a task to lead the electrical group to design the most expensive public school in the nation, the former Ambassador Hotel where Robert Kennedy was assassinated. Los Angeles Unified School District bought and demolished the building and built an Elementary, Middle and High School, all in one site at a whopping cost of $ 560M. He and his wife are deeply involved in spreading the Word of God and hold a Bible Study every Thursday at their home in Granada Hills, CA.

Roland "Rols" Lacanilao, '71, CA --
January 31, 1975, the date he left his birth country to join his parents in Los Angeles, California, where he met his wife Kathleen Yoshimura, a Japanese-American.  They got married on December 31, 1977.  She graduated from University of Southern California in 1998 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and now works as a counselor for the seniors.  His four years of college in the Philippines, Far Eastern University, did not work in his favor in the U.S., so he enrolled in The American Real Estate School in Beverly Hills and obtained his diploma in 1988.  He currently works as a Real Estate and Mortgage Banker at Coldwell Banker, N.A. now for over 20 years.

Corazon "Cora" Chiu, '68

Corazon graduated in 1968, the same class as JT and Tony. She is a practicing CPA in the Philippines and was appointed by the Chairman as the Assistant Treasurer of the organization, in charge of the Philippine account. She retired from Banco de Oro.  Other than being an active member of CAHSAFI, she is also active in her class' efforts to help the Alma Mater, doing different projects with her batchmates.

She holds a BSC degree in accounting, magna cum laude, from Far Eastern University.  With Associated Bank and Westmont Bank she was responsible for the overall supervision of the Auditing Department and the bank’s branch network and monitoring compliance, respectively. With Onshore Strategic Assets Inc., she was in-charge of the recording of collections of past due receivables, sale of acquired assets and all expenses incurred related to the collection/disposition of the past due loan accounts, ensuring compliance to the terms and conditions under the Collection Agency Agreement. With BDO Leasing and Finance Inc., she was responsible for assisting the Comptroller in ensuring the smooth operation of the Accounting Department while the harmonization and alignment with the bank’s accounting system was still undergoing final implementation. Currently, she is with Trinity University of Asia and is responsible for the overall supervision of the Office of the President.

Ricardo "Rick" Banta, '80
Currently residing at Paranaque but originally from the province of Batangas.
Graduated Salutatorian of AHS in 1980, he was involved in many school organizations as member/officer being the news editor of the Chronicler and president of the Social Studies Club during the senior year. Graduated from the University of the East with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering after which he passed the Civil Engineering Licensure Examination 1985. He was chosen as the Most Outstanding Silver Jubilarian of AHS Alumni Association, Inc. in 2005. He was an active member of AHS Class 1980 being the president in 2010 and currently member of the Board of Advisers of his batch. He was a former officer of the AHS Alumni Association and currently the Vice President of the Homeowners Association in Parañaque. He is employed with Sta. Elena Construction & Development Corporation.

Roland "Robi"  Isidro, '71. Canada

In pursuit of his love of nature, Roland took up B.S. Agriculture at the Araneta University Foundation (now Araneta De La Salle) in 1975. He worked at Canlubang Sugar Estate as Junior Branch Manager for Maria Christina Fertilizer Corp. before being assigned at their branch in Hinigaran, Negros Occidental in1976. Turfcraft International (an Australian landscaping company) hired him to work in Kuwait in ’84-’87 as landscape supervisor. Roland then worked with Agricultural Development Company (a Kuwaiti agricultural company) as Project Manager for its waterfront landscaping project in ’87, then as Technical Manager in ’91-’97. With plenty of time to spare, Roland worked as a consultant for Kuwaiti Engineer’s Office for the rest of their waterfront projects in ’95-’97 and still found some time fishing along the Arabian Gulf. Roland migrated to the US in ’97, worked in New York for almost three years in landscaping and irrigation projects, and then moved to Canada to set up Rainbow Lawn Sprinkler Systems, an irrigation outfit operating in Greater Toronto Area. Toronto has been nice to Roland and his family so they treat Canada as their second home.

An Accounting graduate of Far Eastern University in Manila, Odette, as she is fondly called, comes from Class’71 of AHS.  Growing up in the tough neighborhood of Almeda in Tondo, she moved to Sydney Australia in 1989 in search of a better life, and is currently working for an Engineering Company as a Senior Configuration Controller.  A Certified Configuration Management Professional, Certified International Software Configuration Manager and Certified International Configuration Manager, she is also a member of the International Society of Configuration Management headquartered in California, USA. While on her last year of college in 1974, she was working for Smith, Bell & Companies and soon after graduating from college, she was hired as the Lead Manpower Coordinator by Metropolitan Bank & Trust Company for more than 10 years before moving to Down Under.  Married to Raul, the union produced two sons both of whom are now professionals in their chosen
fields.  The couple's love for travel took them to many countries of the world which she has captured with the camera and her love for photography.  She believes that photographs are very powerful tools to remember those wonderful moments and sceneries while also serving as her diary of those journeys.  And out of these photos and videos she creates short films to relive those moments.  She currently sits on the Board of CAHSAFI as the Fundraising Committee Chair.
